'Eleanor and Park' by Rainbow Rowell

Hey guys!
The book I recently finished is called 'Eleanor and Park' By Rainbow Rowell. I read this so quickly (which i usually say when a book is good enough to make an appearance on this blog) as it was so gripping.

It's a love story. This book is about a Asian boy, and a girl who sticks out for being "different", who fall in love.
It all starts when they meet on the bus and she starts reading his comics.
Slowly but surely, they fall in love.
There relationship isn't easy to say the least as they both have valid reasons to keep their relationship a secret.
Eleanor comes from a broken home, with a abusive stepfather. She has to keep her relationship with Park a secret, or the consequences would be dangerous and end up with getting kicked out of her home.
Park doesn't want to be teased at school about being with Eleanor. Eleanor is very different and doesn't really fit in with the crowd and is constantly picked on and bullied. Park doesn't want to get bullied as well for being with Eleanor but doesn't want her to know that he is embarrassed to be with her.

I really liked this book, as there relationship was so detailed and so thoroughly built up, which made it so much easier to believe the relationship and makes it more real and not just a book.

This book doesn't have a strong story line, but really builds up thier charecter. I would really reccomend this book, and it's not really the typical love story.

I hope you enjoyed this blog, and as always let me know what you think about it if you had read it and leave me any reccomendations!
Love you guys,
JJ xx

'Slated' a trilogy by Teri Terry

 12743472

Hello guys! Hope your well.
So I was waiting until I finished the whole trilogy before I reviewed this, and I did and I finished it quicker than I thought! These were such good books, and I really enjoyed them. I am only going to give you the blurb for the first one, and that is what they are all (kind of) about.

Kyla’s memory has been erased,
her personality wiped blank,
her memories lost for ever.

She’s been Slated.

The government claims she was a terrorist and that they are giving her a second chance - as long as she plays by their rules. But echoes of the past whisper in Kyla’s mind. Someone is lying to her, and nothing is as it seems. Who can she trust in her search for the truth?

So to be honest its all a bit of a blur in which parts happened in each book, but I can remember the overall story.

Slating is legal in this book. Slating is their take on a second chance in life; you get a new one. You are assigned a new family and you have to set out on a better life. All monitored by the government of course. You have a 'levo' on your wrist until you are 21 and this monitors your emotions and is meant to stop you from getting dangerous. If your levo gets too low (because your too sad, or felling angry which may make you dangerous, or upset) in causes you to become unconscious. And if it gets really low, it will kill you. This controls your life.
But Kyla is different. She can remember things, mostly in her dreams, but she can. This is a threat to the government and it could cause her dangerous consequences.  She discovers her past, and learns for the first time in her life the feeling of loss.

I love this book, as it has everything. Mystery, love, danger, excitement, adventure, action. Its all anyone could want in a book. The books finish in a way that you are left not knowing everything, but knowing a little. This leads you to read the next book, but you find out the basics in the 1st book, but they then lead to worse and better things which come in the later books.

Its misleading with characters, and some (not all) are built up well.

This may not be the most intelligent or intellectual book, but its not a simple one either. I learnt new vocabulary without getting bored. You start to realise what a good life you actually have!

I would give this book a 5* rating, and I highly recommend you read it.

Let me know what you think in the comments, and as always I would love some book recommendations!

Thanks for reading,
JJ xx

A competition for you guys!

Hey guys!
This is not a book review today, but I started a book competition at school today, and I thought maybe you guys could take part too.
SO the competition is how many books we can read in 2 months, and I thought as a fun thing to do, you could make a note of the books you have read this month, and list them in the comments at the end of the 2 months.
I would love to hear about them, and what you thought, and the winner can send me a review on any book they want, and I will publish it, on this blog!
I hope you all try to get involved, as I think it would be great.

Love you guys,
JJ xoxo
